Transitioning from plants meshes to prisms
The parameter that rules the fading of the mesh is defined in the "Mesh settings" of the plant:
The mesh is visible up to the fade distance start value. It has entirely disappeared at the fade distance stop. The fading uses a screen pixel mask to smoothly remove mesh pixels and to see prism pixels instead. This is illustrated below:
While this is hardly noticeable if the fade distance is far enough, we can clearly see the pixel mask with these settings. In the image below, the mesh transition occurs between 3 meters and 8 meters. We can see the pixel mask in effect as we'll move forward or backward from the mesh in front of us:
