Crushed and natural gravels for solar fields

Crushed gravel is often used around solar electric plants and substations for several practical reasons:

- Safety Enhancement: Gravel has high resistivity, which helps reduce the risk of electric shocks during faults. It minimizes "step voltage" (the potential difference between a person's feet) and "touch voltage" (the potential difference when touching a grounded structure) by acting as an insulating layer.

- Fire Prevention: Gravel is non-flammable, making it a safer choice compared to grass or other vegetation, which could catch fire.

- Weed and Wildlife Control: It prevents the growth of weeds and deters animals like snakes and rodents from entering the area.

- Drainage and Erosion Control: Gravel aids in water drainage and prevents soil erosion, ensuring the stability of the ground around the plant.
